Regular Business:

  1. 18 Massasecum Avenue: There were a number of Massasecum Avenue residents in attendance to voice their concern about the state of 18 Massasecum Ave. They claimed that the Town Ordinances and rules were not being adhered to. The Board indicated that they were following the Town attorney’s advice to address the situation and that the property owners would be receiving a letter from the attorney. Their complaints included burning trash, foul odors, rats and junk in the yard.
  2. The Selectmen reviewed the Town Warrant. Karen indicated that the wording for the Bement Bridge article had been changed per the Dept of Revenue and that, according to the DRA, the Cemetery Funding warrant was unnecessary and had been removed. The funds to come from the Cemetery Trust Funds don’t need to be raised; instead, they will be shown as revenue.
  3. The Selectmen reviewed their commentary for the Town Report.
  4. The Selectmen signed the Tax Anticipation note. If needed, the Town can draw up to $600,000 at 3.25%.
  5. The Selectmen signed the assessing contract.
  6. The Selectmen signed the Iamresponding.com Contract.
  7. The Board accepted funds for the Scholarship Trust Fund.
  8. The Board accepted funds for the Town Hall Restoration Trust Fund.
  9. The Police Chief noted that the Town had received conflicting information about the changed ownership of COPSync, the online emergency communication system used in the Town. He is working to get clearer information. He also noted that Transfer Station employees claim copper wire and batteries have been taken from the Transfer Station and that the PD was handling the investigation. The Board stated they intend to take action if/when the individuals are caught.
  10. Karen mentioned tours of the work being done at Town Hall would be held on Saturday from 1:30-3:30.

The Payable and Payroll Manifests were signed.
