Board of Selectmen Meeting
April 25, 2016 Minutes
Pledge of Allegiance
Meeting called to order at 5:30pm
Roll Call- John Pfeifle, Chairman; Sonny Harris, Selectman; Jim Bibbo, Selectman
Karen Hambleton, Town Administrator; Marilyn Gordon, Treasurer were in attendance
Regular Business
- Town Hall update – John Pfeifle reviewed a list of tasks yet to be done including bulletproofing the windows and walls, secure service windows and painting. The ADA ramp will be completed in a couple weeks. Volunteers have been busy putting up sheetrock and mudding. The electrician has also been working in the building.
- Funds for returned sights for the PD – The Select Board unanimously accepted the funds but did not specify they were to be credited to the Police Department budget.
- Request for removal of doomage fees – The Board discussed the situation presented in the letter requesting the removal of the fees. John motioned that the Board waive the penalty ($253.32). Sonny seconded and the Board voted unanimously in favor.
- Sign Abatement – Eversource – The Board denied Eversource’s 2015 abatement request.
- Accept checks for Independence Day Trust Fund – John motioned the Board accept two checks for the Independence Day Trust Fund. Sonny seconded and the Board approved unanimously.
- Taxpayers’ comments/concerns regarding any Town Department’s activities – The Chair explained that there had been an incident recently where an individual complained directly to a Town employee in an unproductive manner. The Board went on record stating that if someone has an issue with a Town employee, they request that individual address the issue with the Select Board and not the employee. They went further to say that verbal abuse of employees will not be tolerated. John motioned that the Board condone this type of behavior and request that individuals with complaints approach the Board. Jim seconded the motion and the vote was unanimous in favor.
- May 2nd Selectmen’s Meeting – John will be unable to attend this meeting and asked if perhaps the Board wanted to skip a week. Jim and Sonny indicated they were willing to meet without John.
- Other Business – Jim Bibbo mentioned that he is holding off submitting the Town Hall grant until fall. He added that he is sending in the cubic footage to the gas suppression company for use in their calculations for fire suppression.
Accounts Payable and Payroll Manifest reviewed and signed.
Minutes of April 18, 2016 meeting were reviewed and accepted with no change. Voted 3-0.
The next Selectmen’s meeting will be held on Monday, May 2, 2016.
