Budget Committee met on January 14th at 6:30pm in the Senior Room of the Bradford Area Community Center.
In attendance:
Chris Mock, Don Jackson, John Pfeifle (selectmen’s rep) Dick Keller, Kathy Rogers, Jen Richardson, Beth Downs

Review of the minutes of the last meeting. Dick Keller asked John Pfeifle if the Board of Selectmen had received any information on an outdoor phone at the Police Station. No further information has been received by the Board of Selectmen.
Jen Richardson was introduced to the committee. She has offered to fill George Cilley’s chair on the Committee until elections. If she wishes to continue further on, she will need to run for the position (sign up is the end of January. The Budget Committee voted to appoint Jennifer. Passed unanimously.
Meg Fearnley and Pat Furness of the Brown Memorial Library met with Committee. While there were some line adjustments to their budget, the bottom line did not change. The Committee voted unanimously to approve the Library Budget at $69,230.00.
Highway Budget – Discussion. Amount of budget reduced to $515,000. Motion to recommend was made and seconded. Vote was 6 yes; 1 no (C.Mock)
Police: Discussion – Amount reduced to $454,000. Motion made and seconded. Vote was 6 yes and 1 no (Jackson).
Fire Department: Beth Downs questioned regionalization. Need for pumper was discussed. Mark Goldberg explained the effect on residential fire insurance rates. Kathy Rogers asked where this data could be found. Mark said they were available online. Dick Keller motioned to accept $55950. Chris Mock seconded. Vote passed unanimously.
Rescue: Motion and second. Vote passed unanimously
Executive: Discussion on salaries. Motion made, second. Vote six yes, one no (Keller)
Elections: Motion, second. Vote passed unanimously.
Financial: Dick Keller had questions. Request Camila answer them. Cheryl requested Dick Keller prepare a written list so Camila could research the answers. Passed over
Revaluation: Discussion on assessing review by DRA. Motion and second. Vote six yes, one no (Keller)
Legal : Motion and second. Vote passed unanimously.
Planning Amount reduced by $298.00. Motion and second. Vote passed unanimously.
General Government Buildings. Motion to reduce to $54,000. seconded. Vote passed unanimously.
Cemetery – Motion and Second. Vote passed unanimously
Insurances – Motion and Second. Vote passed unanimously
Other General Government – Amount reduced to $6500. Moved and seconded – 5 yes, 2 no (Keller and Richardson)
Building Dept – Motion by D Keller to reduce to $6000. Motion failed. Amount reduced to $12,000. Vote passed 6 yes one no (Keller)
Civil Defense – Motion and Second. Vote passed unanimously
Bridges – reduced to $1.00. Motion, second, vote passed unanimously.
Street Lights – motion, second, vote passed unanimously
Solid Waste Collection– Reduced to $80,000. Motion, second, vote passed unanimously
Solid Waste Disposal – Motion, second, vote passed unanimously
Inoculations – lowered to $1.00. Motion, second, vote passed unanimously.
Welfare wages – reduced request to $7000.00. Motion, second 5 yes, one no (Keller) one abstained (Rogers)
Welfare Vendor Payments – reduced to $30,000. Motion, second, vote 6 yes, 1 not (Richardson)
Parks and Rec – Motion, second, vote passed unanimously
Patriotic purposes – motion, second and vote passed unanimously
Community Center – Reduced to $21,000. Motion, second and vote passed unanimously
Conservation – Motion, second, vote 6 yes one no (Richardson)
Possible dates for public hearings. Dates of Feb 3rd and Feb 10th will be checked for availability. Next meeting 1/18/16 at 6:30pm in the youth room. Adjourned at 9:01pm
