Cemetery Commission Minutes
February 27, 2023
Meeting called to order at 10:09 am.
Present: Marlene Freyler, Jarna Perkins, Erica Gross
- Erica made a motion to approve the minutes of January 9, 2023. Jarna seconded motion to approve the minutes
All in favor, 3-0
- The invoice from FVB Landscaping was passed and signed by all commission members. This invoice covered the dates from Jan. 5th thru the 18th for extra clean-up of debris and branches left after a storm.
- Jarna mentioned that Gary Perkins will be happy to go down into the water pump area in the spring and go over the opening and closing of the water. Erica volunteered Paul Gross to meet with Gary in the spring to learn the routine. There are also several projects that must be taken care of;
- A licensed plumber needs to be brought to install a pressure gauge on the pressure tank and lower the water pressure in the tank. The area that the water pump is in has about a foot of water in it and also old pumps left behind. This needs to be cleaned out as well as a squirrel’s nest removed.
- New doors need to be installed since the hinges have rotted out.
- Other projects –
- Sunset Hill fencing needs to be looked at.
- Baptist Church gate needs to be fixed and rotten boards of fencing along back of cemetery needs to be removed.
- Sunny Plain piping needs to be cut below the ground.
- Sunny Plain gate needs repair.
- Pleasant Hill still needs more of the debris removed from the sunken portion.
- Marshall Hill fencing may need repairs.
- We would like to look into Green Burials and determine how large a section can be designated for green burials only. The two cemeteries that could contain a Green Burial section would be Sunny Plains or New Pond. Once determined which cemetery will be used for this, we will properly mark off the section so that it is easily known. Marlene will have more information for the next meeting.
- Marlene and Erica will attend the next State Cemetery zoom meeting. Date not known at this time.
- Signs were discussed. We are looking for large, metal signs that can list all rules including regulations pertaining to dogs. We want to place the signs at each entrance of Sunny Plains (4) and have them high enough for all to see.
