The Conservation Commission met on January 17, 2023, at 7pm in the Brown Memorial Library.
Present: George Beaton, Seth Benowitz, Nathanial Bruss, J. Ann Eldridge, Meg Fearnley, Scott MacLean, and Doug Southard. Also present: Andy Deegan of Ausbon Sargent Land Preservation Trust.
Secretary’s Draft Report for the 12/19/23 meeting: The draft minutes were reviewed and approved with two corrections by unanimous vote.
Treasurer’s Report: There was no treasurer’s report as the budget has not been set for this year. New trail maps have been obtained which will deplete last year’s budget. The invoice for the trail maps has been sent to the town office.
Ausbon Sargent Land Preservation Trust: Andy Deegan discussed a potential new conservation easement that would benefit the Town. Andy reported that the Ausbon Sargent board has approved this project. The Bradford Conservation Commission’s financial contribution to the purchase was discussed. Meg made a motion that the Conservation Commission support the purchase. The motion was seconded by Scott and approved by unanimous vote.
Andy Deegan discussed Ausbon Sargent’s strategic plan for land conservation in Bradford.
D.E.S.: The issues concerning a property on Blaisdell Hill Rd. have been reported to D.E.S. The matter is in D.E.S.’s hands now.
Planning Board: The Planning Board has reviewed the proposal for a Surface Water Protection Ordinance. There was discussion of how to consolidate this proposal with our current Wetlands Ordinance. If the Surface Water Protection proposal is shelved for this year, there will be a working group established to decide how to revise this proposal. One or more members of the Conservation Commission will participate in this working group.
Zoning Board: Nathanial reported on Zoning Board activity.
The meeting adjourned at 8:45 pm. The next meeting will be Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at 7pm in the Brown Memorial Library.
