Bradford Conservation Commission Minutes
March 18, 2014  7pm at Brown Memorial Library

Present: George Beaton, Seth Benowitz, Nathaniel Bruss, J. Ann Eldridge, Meg Fearnley, Scott MacLean, Brooks McCandlish

Secretary’s Report: The meeting minutes of 1/21/14 were accepted as written. The 2/18/2014 meeting was canceled due to weather.

Treasurer’s Report: Meg submitted the Annual Budget Report for 2013. The treasurer’s report was accepted as presented.

Workshops:
NH Coverts Project Workshop:  to be held at the Barbara C. Harris Conference Center, Greenfield, NH May 7-10, 2014. Scott MacLean will be applying to participate.

Saving Special Places 2014 Land Conservation Conference: April 5th, 2014 at the Laconia Middle School, Laconia,NH. (8:30-4:00-fee $60). Scott and George are planning to attend.

Local Energy Solutions Conference: “Putting Local Back in Local Energy, at Winnisquam Regional High School, April 12, 2014, 8:30-4:00.

Correspondence:
Seth sent a letter to Gerry Gold, SRKG regarding grants for further trail work in Bradford.

Planning Board:
Payson Subdivision-As requested the subdivision was reviewed. The only comment was to consider improving the value of one lot that is mostly floodplain/wetland. Brooks spoke with Mr. Payson regarding his plans for the property.

Sunapee Ragged Kearsarge Greenway Coalition (SRKG):
There will be a group discussion of interested parties regarding the addition of trails on Sunday April 13th, 2014 at “Bookends” in Warner. George and Seth will attend.

Fish and Game Request:
Communications between Bradford Fish and Game, ASLPT (Beth McGuinn), NH Fish and Game and the Bradford Conservation Commission regarding recently obtained land by Bradford Fish and Game are on-going.  Issues regarding the property as a priority wild life area according to the NH Wildlife Action Plan, easement opportunities and potential grant opportunities are items that Ann will be discussing.

Warner River Protective Designation:
Ann and Seth will meet with selectmen to discuss the designation at a future date yet to be determined.

Bradford Road Side Cleanup Day:
April 26, 2014. Lois and Seth have worked hard to organize a town wide cleanup day. Blue trash bags will be available at the Transfer Station. Details will be delineated in the April edition of the Bradford Bridge.

NRI article:  Groundwater article will be submitted for the May edition of the Bradford Bridge.

New Hampshire Association of Conservation Commissioners:
NHACC has a new director, Nik Coates.
It was agreed that having the conservation commission’s web site on the Town of Bradford site best serves the towns needs versus a web site at NHACC .
NHACC sent out information on three bills that might effect conservation commissions. HB 1271, HB 1100 and SB 388.
