Secretary’s Draft Report
March 20, 2018, 7pm at Brown Memorial Library
Present: George Beaton, Seth Benowitz, Nathanial Bruss, J Ann Eldridge, Meg Fearnley, Patty Furness, Scott MacLean, Brooks McCandlish.
Secretary’s Draft Report: The draft minutes of 2/20/18 were reviewed and accepted as read.
Treasurer’s Report: Meg stated that $8.57 interest was earned on accounts in February. Meg will inquire with Karen regarding BCC’s portion of the current use penalty tax, to be deposited in the land protection fund.
Election of Officers: Ann was re-elected chairperson, Patty secretary, and Meg treasurer for the coming year.
Bradford 2006 Master Plan Update: Corrections are needed for the Natural Resource chapter. BCC members will review this 2006 chapter, along with the the summary of survey findings submitted by Bradford residents, and formulate comments to be discussed at the next meeting.
Saving Special Places 2018: This annual land conservation conference will take place Saturday, April 7 at Prospect Mt. High School in Alton. Details and registration is accessible online at the website.
Mink Hills ATV Class 6 Road Use: Seth reported that the next step for the Central NH Regional Planning Commission will be to survey Mink Hill landowners regarding ATV use on Class 6 roads, and then develop a vision and mission statement.
Cottrell/Baldwin Lecture Series: Scheduled 2018 topics include Wildflowers of New England, Eastern Coyote, Log Drives of the Connecticut River, and Bogs and Fens. These lectures take place on Tuesday evenings beginning March 20 at the Baldwin Forest Education Center at Fox State Forest headquarters.
Bradford Hazard Mitigation Plan Committee: Ann continues to attend these monthly meetings.
Trail Maps: Corrections to typos are needed. George volunteered to replace broken stair treads on the Bog tower.
Beaver Program: Skip Lisle will present a much anticipated program on beavers on Friday April 20, 7 pm at Brown Memorial Library. Seth wrote and submitted an informational article to The Bridge, and also graciously volunteered to make posters to place at various locations around town.
SB 445: This bill, which will designate the Warner River as protected, is now in the NH House. There will be a public hearing presented by the House Resource, Recreational and Development Committee on Friday April 13 at the Legislative Office building.
Forestry Maintenance Plan for Town Owned Properties: Brooks has generously volunteered to perform site work and draw up management plans with goals and objectives for various town owned properties.
With no further business, the meeting adjourned at 8pm. The next meeting will take place on Tuesday April 17, 2018, 7pm at Brown Memorial Library.
