Draft Bradford Conservation Commission Meeting Notes

Time: 7pm
Location: Brown Memorial Library
Present: Brooks McCandlish, J. Ann Eldridge, Seth Benowitz, Meg Fearnley, George Beaton, Patty Furness, Nathanial Bruss. Absent: Andrea LaMoreaux, Carol Meise, Amy Blitzer (alternates). Present: Sam Rushia and Ms. Rushia.
Bradford Bog: Sam presented his plans for organizing a rebuild of the Bog platform as an Eagle Scout project. Conservation Commission to assist along with Perry Teele and other community support. Plan to start on April 21st by disassembling old platform. Brooks marked trees to use as supports.
Secretary’s Report: Draft minutes from March 20, 2012 meeting read and accepted.
Treasurer’s Report: Bank statements have not appeared. Will check at town hall. Assumed that a small amount of interest earned. Patty Furness still to be reimbursed $45 from conference November 2011. George and Patty to be reimbursed ($60 each) for ‘Saving Special Places’ conference.
Conferences: Saving Special Places workshop in Weare, April 14. George and Patty attended. Workshops included: trail building, community involvement, improving habitats for rare and endangered species, and how to create naturalized edges of waterways.
Planning Board: Proposed automotive recycling business on aquifer and abutting Warner River. Warner. A problem uncovered pertaining to ZBA rights in granting variance. State law must not be less than 660’ from a highway. May need a state variance. Are inspectors allowed on property?
Liberty Elm Tree: tree to be 14foot. Ann to call Keene for pickup. George to fetch, will be reimbursed for gas. Request a neighbor to water.
Field trips: Hike on Battles Farm easement set for August. Crew headed by George and Brooks to delineate and build trail. Need to contact Ed re: entrance to trail. Andy Deegan would like to check on it also.
Public Outreach: Ann to contact NH Fish and Game re: program on bobcats. Update of trail map as soon as old run out.
Election of officers: Ann reelected as chair after some discussion. Patty as secretary. Meg to remain as treasurer. Thanks to Nathanial for his three years as chair.
Natural Resource Inventory: Draft copy of Forestry chapter passed out. Steep slope resolved. Brooks to contact Granit to make corrections to their conservation layer. Agricultural chapter reviewed. Remaining items – Shoreland Protection. Info on survey? Review draft maps. Insert images. Print.
Membership: The updated list of all boards and commissions has arrived. All BCC positions renewed in 2015.
