Bradford Conservation Commission Secretary’s Draft Report
November 19, 2024, 7pm at Brown Memorial Library
Present: George Beaton, Seth Benowitz, Nathanial Bruss, J Ann Eldridge, Meg Fearnley, Patty Furness, Brooks McCandlish, and Doug Southard.
Secretary’s Draft Report 10/15/24: Ann noted there are no recorded minutes to present.
Treasurer’s Report: Meg stated $100 of the remaining balance of the 2024 annual budget will be spent on turtle crossing signs to be posted along likely roads in the spring. It will be deducted when the invoice is presented.
Deer Valley Road Apparent Junkyard Complaint: A resident has contacted Ann with concerns. Ann will encourage the individual to fill out and submit a complaint form to the town Select Board.
Beaver Dam Removal: A resident inquired about this action by the State on the NFI property along Route 103. DOT was contacted, but there has been no response as yet.
Shoreland Permit Steele Road: A plan was submitted to relocate a house 7 feet, add living space and reconfigure the driveway, all of which would impact 8325 square feet of protected shoreland and increase Impervious Surface Percentage 16.6% . The plan was approved.
Breezy Hill Realty/North Country Map 3 Lot 74: The mandated restoration of 175 feet of stream bank, and replacement of damaged culverts has not been completed. The reply was due November 1 to DES.
493 Center Road Map 6 Lot 26: The DES review form has been completed.
Planning Board: The Surface Water Protection Overlay District with Central Regional Planning Commission Draft 10 public hearing will take place with the Planning Board on December 17 at 7pm at the town hall. Carol Meise will write an article for the December Bridge to notify the public of this important informational meeting.
Bradford Culvert Replacements: Rett has met with Steve Hall and Ben Nugent for ongoing work on these projects. Grant assistance is being investigated.
Trails Talk: Ann and George presented a program on local trails with public access at the library 11/06/24. It was well attended, well received and informational.
Ausbon Sargent: Ann, George and Laurie Buchar presented Battles Farm from historical, habitat, and preservation significance perspectives to a group of adventurers on 11/15. Thank you for the stories, awareness and appreciation of this gem of land!
Warner River Local Advisory Committee: The stream assessment management plan is coming up in the next few months. Becca has stated that BCC input would be beneficial.
Lake Massasecum Improvement Association: Ann has contacted LMIA regarding an annual membership for BCC. The form will be sent in May 2025. Also, LMIA should be included in Surface Water Protection Plan information, which has been condensed to bullet points. When Ann receives those, she will give to Patty to pass on to LMIA the powers that be.
Summer Environmental Camp Scholarship: Patty will contact NH Audubon regarding application submission timing. She will also ask for assistance within the local schools to get the message out about this opportunity for Bradford children to attend environmental camp.
December BCC Meeting: A motion was made to move the 12/17 meeting time to 6pm to allow members to attend the PB/Surface Water Protection hearing. All were in favor. Ann will post change.
With no further business, the meeting adjourned at 7:45pm. The next meeting will be held at Brown Memorial Library on Tuesday December 17, 2024 at 6pm.
