Bradford Conservation Commission Secretary’s Report
September 21, 2021, 7pm at Bradford Memorial Library
Present: George Beaton, J Ann Eldridge, Meg Fearnley, Patty Furness, Scott MacLean, Brooks McCandlish and Doug Southard.
Secretary’s Draft Minutes: The draft report of 8/17/21 was reviewed. Meg made a motion to accept the draft minutes as read, George seconded, and the approval of the draft report was unanimous.
Treasurer’s Report: The town treasurer contacted Ann to clarify if the Bradford Conservation Commission would like to rollover our CD. Meg stated she routinely allows BCC CDs to do so.
Breezy Hill Road, Map 18, Lots 06 and 07: No further action is to be taken at this time.
Abandoned Vehicle: There is a disabled vehicle on Butman Road in the Pearl Town Forest. Ann spoke with the owner earlier this spring and requested that he remove it. No attempt has been made. Ann will contact him once more before turning the matter over to the Bradford Police.
Fairgrounds Road, Map2, Lot 42: Karen has notified Ann that the town is trying to gain permission for the town Code Enforcement Officer and a representative from the NH Department of Environmental Services to have access to this property to determine if there is a business/junkyard operating at this location. Until access is granted, the town is relying on neighborhood reporting to alert the town if vehicles are being added or removed from this property.
Cressy Road, Map 6, Lot 74: The owners of this property went before the Select Board to inform them that the sawmill will be used for personal use only, to finish a barn on the property.
Noise Ordinance: The planning Board will be considering the adoption of a noise ordinance. They will try to involve such groups as the Snowmobile Club and Bradford Fish and Game Club, to reassure the public that the issue being addressed concerns excessive noise only.
Bradford Bog White Cedar Regeneration: Ann will be meeting with Anne Payeur of Ausbon Sargent to keep her current on the UNH Bog research project, and to request permission for the Abenaki Trails Project to harvest one White Cedar at the Bog this winter to be used to construct a canoe.
Many Many Thank Yous: George is single handedly replacing boards on the Bog boardwalk to assure safe passage for visitors, but he is running out of nails! Meg requested he submit a bill for materials for reimbursement. George’s efforts were applauded, and great appreciation expressed from everyone .
Pleasant View Road Culvert: George reported that Ben Nugent, NH Fish and Game Fisheries Biologist, will get in touch with Steve Hall, Bradford Road Agent, to discuss replacement of this failing culvert. Ben would like to pursue obtaining a grant to help with the cost.
With no further business, the meeting adjourned at 7:40pm. The next meeting will be Tuesday October 19, 2021, 7pm at Brown Memorial Library.
Respectfully Submitted,
Patty Furness, Secretary
