What do I need to know before doing a polar plunge?
Before jumping in the water, stand on a blanket or towel and only remove your clothes right before you enter the water. Wear socks, aqua boots, neoprene surf boots, or running shoes to stop your feet from sticking to the snowy or icy shore and prevent cuts and scrapes from the frozen ground.
- Limit time in the water to less than 15 min (it will likely be < 5 minutes)
- Don’t immerse your head.
- When done, dry off completely, get into warm, dry clothes
- Appoint someone to be waiting for you with a dry towel, warm blanket, and warm beverage
*** IMPORTANT for all participants ***
All polar plunge participants must be aware of the risks of cold water exposure. All participants must complete liability waivers which will be available at the event.
