Proposed Town of
The intent of this ordinance is-
To require Residential Sprinklers in newly constructed one or two family dwellings and manufactured homes based on the current NFPA 13D code.
Scope-
This ordinance covers the design and installation of automatic sprinkler systems for the protection against fire hazards in one or two family dwellings and manufactured homes. Where new dwellings are built with more then two units, the current NFPA 13R code shall apply.
Purpose-
The purpose of this ordinance is to provide an automatic sprinkler system that aids in the detection and control of residential fires and thus provides improved protection against injury, loss of life and property damage. Nothing in this ordinance is intended to restrict new technologies or alternative arrangements provided that the level of safety prescribed by the ordinance is not reduced and is subject to approval of the Bradford Fire Chief or his Designee.
Process-
All sprinkler system designs shall be in accordance with the requirements of current NFPA 13D
3 sets of sprinkler plans shall be submitted to the Bradford Building Inspector with the application for a building permit.
All required approvals shall be obtained prior to the installation of any sprinkler piping or components. Approval shall be by the Bradford Fire Chief or his Designee.
Installation of the sprinkler system shall be by a State Of
Inspections during the installation shall be by the Bradford Fire Department Chief or his Designee.
Final approval of the automatic sprinkler system shall be by the Bradford Fire Department Chief or his Designee before a final permit of occupancy is issued by the Town Of
Note: It is important to understand that during an electrical power outage the automatic sprinkler system may fail to operate. This may be remedied by the installation of a self contained system or a backup power supply.
