The 4th of July Celebration on July 6, 2013:
A contract for a Climbing Wall was brought in for the Selectmen to look at and sign. The Wall will be available from 5:00pm to 9:00pm. The Selectmen advised Marlene Freyler can sign this contract as she does the others for this event.
Mention was made that the Highway Department will be off on Friday, July 5th and if anything is needed from them prior to that to let Barry Wheeler, Road Agent know in advance.
There is a pole up to the Town Hall that the Highway Dept. will take down that was used for the electricity coming in to the temporary Police Station previously.
CommunityGarden at the Pickman property on Route 114 is all set to go for whomever is going to be working on it.
Additional conversation regarding French’s Park and the possible need for an Attendant was brought up. Suggestion was that if any problems, the Police could be asked to drop in occasionally. Perhaps an attendant will be required on weekends. This does need to be monitored. This will be persued in future discussions.
Tax Auction:
Discussion regarding the anticipated Tax auction ensued which will be held on July 27, 2013. It was suggested that the parcel on East Main Street could be combined, or sold separately. Cheryl Behr has sent out letters and Ads will be put out.
Lois Kilnapp, Director Bradford Recycling:
Lois Kilnapp was in and stated that the period to sign up to stay with the Co-Op is Wednesday, June 26, 2013. They are looking for commitment and currently we are in for two more years. Considerable conversation ensued. The question is, is Bradford going to sign on for another nine years? It was suggested that the Selectmen contact Jim Pritcher for firmer details and Lois will procure his telephone number and give it to the Selectmen. The Selectmen will talk with Mr. Pritcher and get back to Lois to let her know the decision, so she can follow through.
Dick Keller – Telephone at Police Station:
Dick Keller reiterated the idea of putting in a telephone outside at the Police Station so if no one is there, New London Dispatch could be contacted in case of emergency. It was stated that Jim Valiquet, Police Chief was opposed to the idea. Harry Wright will check with Chief Valiquet again.
Town Hall Secured:
John Pfeifle advised the Town Hall was cleaned and secured with the tests passed and secured areas ready to be used for the 4th of July weekend. It was questioned if the Selectmen received the note from John Greenwood stating windows have been left open, and they were aware of it.
