SELECTMEN’S MEETING
JULY 29, 2013
5:30PM
The Pledge of Allegiance was said.
Call to Order and Roll Call:
Harry Wright, Chair called the meeting to order at 5:33pm with John Pfeifle, Sonny Harris, Marilyn Gordon, Treasurer, Cheryl Behr, Administrator and Marge Cilley, Secretary present.
Results of the tax sale of town owned property-July 27, 2013:
Harry Wright, Chair thanked John Pfeifle for being the point person in setting up the tax sale and for procuring Emory Sanders as Auctioneer Pro Bono. The sales grossed $60,750.00 and after all expenses, the net amount was $900.00 plus the properties will be back on the tax rolls. A thank you note will be written to Mr. Sanders for his volunteering to do this sale for the town. The Treasurer has deposited the money received.
Ambulance Repair:
Mark Goldberg, Fire Chief advised the Ambulance is not back at this time.
He suggested that he send Cheryl Behr an e-mail when it is returned. It was also suggested that a note be forwarded to Henniker Rescue Squad for helping Bradford while their ambulance is out of commission.
C I P paperwork?
Cheryl Behr advised she has received nothing from the CIP at this time. Mark Goldberg advised he was given a spread sheet without any details.
Boston Post Cane:
Louise Clark is the designated person in line to receive the Boston Post Cane. Harry Wright advised there are only six Boston Post Canes left in existence, and Bradford has one of them.
Personal Action Form:
Personal Action Form was reviewed and signed.
Lois Kilnapp, Recycling Manager:
Lois Kilnapp came before the Selectmen and advised the garbage container is leaking quite badly, and George Naughton advised he can put in a new steel floor and paint the whole container for one thousand dollars ($1,000.00). A new container would cost $6600.00. No motion was taken, but the Selectmen all agreed to go ahead and do the repair.
Lois also advised that DES informed her that a permit is not required for garbage composting as it would not be for collecting commercial garbage..
John Pfeifle is aware of a person who is in the composting business and he will check with him for some information/instruction on how to set this up. The scope of the project will be investigated.
Lois Kilnapp advised that Greenly Recycling cannot pick up any piece of appliance that contains Freon beginning in March. Decision was to begin charging for leaving these at the land fill beginning in January, 2014 and the charge will be $10.00 per appliance. A notice will be posted so advising.
Lois Kilnapp also stated that they have an excellent relationship with the Highway Department, working with each other.
Sign Appointment:
An appointment was signed for Roderick MacLean as Conservative Commission Alternate.
French’s Park:
Cheryl Behr has made up a sign containing several rules and regulations to post at French’s Park. Suggestion was made to put in an emergency telephone there. Discussion ensued, and the Selectmen were going down there directly after this meeting for further clarification.
Town Hall Restoration Money:
Money was brought in to the Selectmen from the Silent Auction, for the Town Hall Restoration project, held at the 4th of July Celebration, to be deposited into the Trust Account, in the amount of One thousand Eight hundred ninety one dollars ($1891.00) The Five hundred Dollars was not subtracted for the town at this time.
Accounts payable and payroll manifests were reviewed and signed.
Cheryl Behr advised she has not forwarded a bill to the Historical Society, for their share of the Messer horse and wagon used on the 4th Celebration.
Review and consideration of the July 22, 2013 minutes:
Motion was made to approve the minutes with the edit made by Harry Wright, Chair the time of adjournment should be 6:20pm. Seconded by Sonny Harris. Motion carried 3-0.
John Pfeifle stated there does need to be a meeting arranged with John Mock, the Selectmen and Jim Bruss regarding the location of land to put the barn for the animals. Also some legal questions should be checked out including the possibility of leasing the property.
Steve Pierce had some question concerning the culvert on his property that had some debris in it.
Meeting adjourned at 6:20pm.
