Board of Selectmen Meeting Minutes

November 28, 2016

Pledge of Allegiance

Meeting called to order at 5:30 pm

Roll Call- John Pfeifle, Chairman; Sonny Harris, Selectman; Jim Bibbo, Selectman

Karen Hambleton, Town Administrator; Marilyn Gordon, Treasurer were in attendance

Regular Business

  1. Feedback from Board on revisions of Sign Ordinance: Discussion around enforcing and monitoring this ordinance. The Planning Board is not the enforcing agent, the Selectmen are. The Selectmen can designate a person or a Board to monitor the sign ordinance to make sure people comply with the regulations. Pam Bruss gathered the feedback from the Board and will share it at the next Planning Board meeting. Pam also informed the Board that they have reached out to the Bradford Business Association and a Public Hearing will be held to allow citizens to ask questions regarding any proposed changes to the ordinance.
  2. Possible Junkyard- Conversation with DES: DES contacted the Selectmen’s asking about the permitted Junkyards in Bradford. DES also had questions about the proposed junkyard. The Board will wait for further contact from DES.
  3. July 4th Dedication: The Board clarified that they would like to dedicate the entire 4th of July celebration to Staff Sgt. David Whitcher. It was suggested that the Independence Day Committee connect with Bob Selig to coordinate the involvement of Armed Forces in the celebration. Extra fundraising will need to take place to offset additional costs.
  4. The Board signed Town abatements.
  5. Budgets: The Chair stated that Budget Committee and Selectmen intend on meeting all together with the department heads to go over individual budgets. The Board feels this will save time and also ensure that everyone is given the same information. The Board reviewed each line item in the budget thus far. Meeting times will scheduled with department heads to gather more information on each request.

Accounts Payable and Payroll Manifest reviewed and signed.

Minutes of November 21, 2016 meeting were reviewed and accepted with no change.

The next Selectmen’s meeting will be held on Monday, December 5, 2016 at the Bradford Area Community Center.
