Select Board Meeting called to order at 5:39 pm
Roll Call – Andrew Pinard (Chair), Marlene Freyler, Mel Pfeifle and Karen Hambleton, Town Administrator, were in attendance.
Appearances:
It was noted that the Select Board and the Fire Department had selected the same three candidates to interview. The Board decided that there will be the three Select Board members, three members of the Fire Department, the Town Administrator, the Police Chief, and the Road Agent on the interview committee. The goal is to fill the position by the end of January.
Andrew asked if Jim is willing to give a tour of the station to all three candidates. Jim said one applicant has already had a tour. He is willing to give a tour to the other two applicants as well.
The date selected to give tours to the candidates is Monday, January 10, 2022. The date to interview the applicants will be Thursday, January 13, 2022, and the time is to be determined.
The deadline to submit interview questions will be Wednesday, December 29, 2021. The questions should be emailed to Karen. She and Andrew will eliminate duplicates and send out the final list to everyone.
Andrew would like background checks to be done prior to the interviews.
Marlene thinks one of the questions should include what they think their compensation should be. Karen said the last salary was based on 20-29 hours. Mel asked if that is enough to get the job done. Andrew said there might be a cap at what they can earn due to retirement.
Andrew asked if the Board could get a copy of the job description and suggested they add a certain amount of time that the chief should be available during daytime hours.
Andrew also asked Jim to get the inventory and prices of fire gear to the Selectboard ASAP.
