PSNH is monitoring the weather, specifically a strong cold front approaching this afternoon which is expected to cross the region during the evening and overnight hours.
This front will combine with moisture left over from Tropical Storm Karen to yield periods of heavy rain and strong winds.
This afternoon, ahead of the cold front, southerly winds may gust between 30 to 40 mph, with stronger gusts possible in a few areas.
There is also the potential for a few thunderstorms, some of which could become severe, producing strong to damaging winds.
The main front will arrive in the west between 3-5PM, in central southern New England between 5-8PM, moving offshore by midnight.
Please prepare now for this possible event. Make sure you have batteries for your flashlights, drinking water and food that will not require heating.
Remember if you see any downed power lines to STAY FAR AWAY from them. Even if they look “DEAD” they may not be.
Call 911 to report any downed lines or trees.
